Toby Gill

Defender

Toby Gill

Toby joined the Old Boys in 2012, introduced to the club by Professor James France. He immediately added his tough tackling and lightning pace* to the Reserve Team’s rearguard making them one of the meanest and hardest to break down defences in the league.

In season 2015-6, Toby took on arguably one of the toughest jobs at the club, that of managing the club’s Reserve team – a team at the time which had no goalkeeper, so though he knew the team would miss his tough tackling and lightning pace*, Toby took the gloves and put on some fine displays of solid if slightly unorthodox goalkeeping.

More recently, to add to his attributes of tough tackling and lightning pace*, Toby could add bravery/madness having completed more than three quarters of a game keeping goal with a broken finger.

*Please note the description of “lightning pace” was in comparison to an asthmatic sloth running in treacle.
