Both on and off the pitch, Marcus was everyone’s hero. Blokes wanted to play like him, girls wanted to be with him. On the pitch, Marcus covered every blade of grass he possibly could in 90 minutes, and was one of the hardest working midfielders in the league.
However, off the pitch, Mr Foley was one of the laziest men you would ever have the pleasure of meeting (assuming he’d ever got out of bed to be in a position to meet anyone). One wonders how he got out of bed in the morning, let alone lift a pen to sign his name on a job application form. On occasions, it had been known for him to stay in bed even though he was desperate to relieve himself in the loo.
Moving on from the Old Boys, Marcus’ wit and humour can be found on his writing for Eurosport.
