Match Details

Scorers: Peat, Martin

The Old Boys Reserves came out on top in a well contested battle at Nobles with Reigate Priory, to move above their opponents in the league table. Goals from Si Peat, playing his first game of 2018 and George Martin gave the home side the points.

The first half was evenly contested on a pitch a little sticky in places after overnight rain. The only goal coming from a scramble in the visitors’ penalty area when a Reigate player trying to clear was tackled by Peat and the ball flew into the bottom corner.

The visitors were back in the game early in the second half as a long ball from the back wasn’t dealt with and after a clumsy challenge, a penalty was awarded, and despite getting a hand to the kick, Rich Harrison could not keep the ball out.

The home side regained the lead shortly afterwards, Peter Udida playing Martin through, breaking the offside trap and beating the advancing ‘keeper to the ball before walking the ball into the empty net.

Both sides had opportunities in the remainder of the game, with Harrison making a good save from close in, Jack Lyons seeing a close-range effort well saved, and then Udida jinking through several challenges before unbelievably shooting wide of the target.

The Old Boys will look to take their improved form of the past two weeks into the final games of the season as they look to climb the table.
