Report:

Royal Holloway Old Boys Reserves suffered a penalty shoot-out loss to Tooting Bec in a well and sportingly contested League Cup semi-final at Abbey Rangers. Tooting will go on to play Sutton Common Rovers who also triumphed in a penalty shoot-out on an adjacent pitch.

The Old Boys went into the game as massive underdogs, with their opponents already crowned league champions and the Old Boys in poor form coming into the game. However some good work in training and a committed performance made the Old Boys hard to break down and always dangerous on the break, and they arguably had the best chance in the second half of normal time when Adam Hamilton and Chris Woods saw efforts cleared off the line.

In extremely cold conditions, the game went the full distance, but ultimately Tooting’s nerve held better in the shoot-out, with only Peter Udida netting his spot kick. Good luck to our opponents in the final, and the performance bodes well for a better finish to the league season.
