The Old Boys continued their unbeaten start to the season after Adam Norwood’s late winner at Godalming & Farncombe.

It was a first away game of the season for the Old Boys, and the last time the two sides met, Godalming were comprehensive winners – 7-1 and 4-0 back in 2014/15 – a real sign of how far the team has come.

The Old Boys had to make a number of changes from the first two games of the season, but the players who came in all did well and showed a good depth to the squad. Godalming had a lot of pressure in the first half, but they were unable to work any clear openings. The second half saw the Old Boys start to create more chances of their own.

Although the hosts had chances and might have been awarded a penalty late on, the visitors defence stood firm with a first clean sheet of the season. With five minutes remaining, substitute Norwood fired in his first goal of the campaign after he was denied initially by a defender and then the post.

1-0 it finished as the newly-promoted Old Boys made it seven points from their opening three games.
