Scorer: Cobb

RHOBFC faced Surrey Elite League 2016/17 runners-up Tooting Bec at Nobles in our first game of the new season on grass after the opening weekend win on the 3G.

The visitors started brightly and took the game to the Old Boys, and they took the lead after 15 minutes. But from thereon in Bec, despite their territorial advantage, were restricted to mainly long range efforts as the hosts grew into the game.

The Old Boys started the second half with a better tempo, and were causing more problems for Bec as the game went on. Although both sides were playing some good football, neither goalkeeper was forced into any real save of significance. There were a couple of close range misses for either side, but again Bec were mainly restricted to efforts from distance.

Holloway continued to press and got a deserved equaliser in the 75th minute when Craig Bartlett headed across goal and Harry Cobb smashed in his third goal in two matches. Both sides had chances late on, but neither could find a winner and it finished 1-1.

We would like to wish the Tooting Bec defender who had to be helped from the field near the end a speedy recovery with his injury.
